About Muslim Law Matters Services

We assist in legal declarations, marriage validation, and documentation under Muslim personal law. Complete privacy and court support is assured.

Muslim Law refers to the set of legal principles derived from Islamic teachings, including the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sharia (Islamic Law), that governs the personal and family life of Muslims. It is concerned with a variety of matters, including marriage, divorce, inheritance, and family disputes.

Key Areas of Muslim Law:

Marriage (Nikah)

  • A contractual agreement between a man and a woman.

  • Rights and duties of husband and wife are governed by the marriage contract, including Mahr (dower), maintenance, and mutual respect.

Divorce (Talaq and Khula)

  • Talaq: A husband’s unilateral right to divorce his wife, but subject to specific legal procedures.

  • Khula: A wife’s right to seek divorce from her husband, typically involving the return of the mahr.

  • Mutual divorce: Both parties agree to end the marriage.

Inheritance (Mirath)

  • Distribution of property and assets among family members after a person’s death, based on specific shariah rules.

  • Generally, male heirs receive double the share of female heirs.

Maintenance (Nafqah)

  • A Muslim husband is obligated to provide financial support to his wife during marriage and after divorce (if the wife is entitled).

  • The wife’s rights to maintenance can also extend to children and parents.

Wills (Wasiyyah)

  • A Muslim is allowed to write a will specifying how their property should be distributed after death, though the share must comply with Islamic inheritance laws.

Family Disputes

  • Muslim law also addresses family disputes, including child custody, alimony, and other family-related issues, which are typically resolved by Shariah courts or family courts in Muslim-majority countries.
